High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is a PE with linear macromolecule and a relatively high density (0.960 g/cm3). This is a polyethylene, which is also referred to as low pressure polyethylene (LPP); it is produced by polymerization with specific catalyst systems.
Polyethylene (except ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene) is processed by all the known techniques for plastics, such as extrusion, extrusion blowing, injection molding, and pneumatic molding. Polyethylene extrusion is possible on the equipment mounted with a “multipurpose” screw.
The polyethylene’s successful and rare combination of chemical resistance, mechanical strength, frost resistance, good dielectric properties, resistance to radiation, extremely low gas permeability and moisture absorption, easiness and harmlessness makes it indispensable in a number of applications
