Fluohydric Acid

Buy

Synonyms: hydrofluoric acid, hydrogen fluoride, hydrofluoridic acid

Chemical formula: HF

International name: Fluohydric acid, Hidrofluoric acid

CAS No.: 7664-39-3

Grade: pure, CP, UHP

Appearance: colorless liquid

Fluohydric acid (40% and 70%) or, as it is also called, hydrofluoric acid or hydrogen fluoride, is a colorless clear liquid with a harsh odor; it easily erodes glass and other substances containing silicon.

Production

The main method of hydrogen fluoride production is calcium fluorite reaction with sulfuric acid, which is passed through pipe rotating and screw furnaces at 120-180°C. Reaction gases remove dust, condense hydrogen fluoride and expose to two-phase refining. In a laboratory, fluohydric acid is easily produced by hydrofluoride thermal decomposition.

Application

Hydrofluoric acid (hydrogen fluoride) is intended for destruction of silicate earth materials (tantalum, zirconia, niobium, etc.), as a hydrogenation and dehydrogenation catalyst, alkylation catalyst in organic chemistry, reagent in production of refrigerant agents and fluoroplastics, stock substance for fluorine production, production of fluosulphonic acid. Hydrofluoric acid is used as follows:

  • in chemical industry,
  • in metallurgy,
  • in electronic industry,
  • in oil and gas industry,
  • in construction materials industry,
  • for chemical polishing crystal products and glass treatment, etc.
