(ZnO), zinc oxide is a white powder, soluble in alkalines, ammonia aqueous solution.
Application:
- Zinc oxide is used in medicine as powders and in ointments as an antiseptic. Zinc oxide properties stipulate its wide application in pharmaceutical industry. Zinc oxide became in common use in abrasive tooth pastes and cements in therapeutic dentistry, in tanning creams and cosmetic procedures.
- Zinc oxide is used in production of glass and paints based on liquid glass as one of the components of rust solvent.
- Zinc oxide is known to have photocatalytic activity, which is used in practice for creation of self-cleaning surfaces, bactericidal coatings for walls and ceilings in hospitals, etc.
- Zinc oxide powder is a perspective material as a working medium for powder lasers. Based on zinc oxide, blue emitting diode has been created. Thin films and other nanostructures based on zinc oxide can be used as sensitive gas and biological sensors.
- Zinc oxide is used in production of electric cable, artificial leather and rubber goods. In addition, its use is spread in tire, paint, oil processing industries. Zinc oxide is involved in glass and ceramics production.
- Zinc oxide is used as vulcanization activator of certain rubbers, vulcanizing agent of polychloroprene rubbers, methanol synthesis catalyst, white pigment in production of enamels and paints, filler and pigment in production of rubber, plastics, paper, perfumery and cosmetics.
- Additive to animal feeds, etc.
