Synonyms: acetic acid ethyl ester
GOST 8981-78
General properties
Ethyl acetate is a transparent, colorless liquid with a faint odor, produced by esterification of acetic acid with crude alcohol. It is good at dissolving of resins, fats, oils, as well as esters of cellulose.
Range of application: Ethyl acetate is most widely used in the manufacture of nitrocellulose varnishes and enamels. Compared to acetone, its advantage is in higher boiling point (lower volatility). It is used for the production of synthetic oligoester acrylates, polyethylene terephthalate fibers, hydraulic fluids and for other purposes, for example, for the production of dust suppressants.
