Type: general-purpose alkyd primer.
Sphere of application: it is intended for painting the metal and wooden surfaces prior to coating them with various enamels.
Properties: it makes it possible to obtain a primer coating for various types of enamels and paints. Due to use special additives in GF-021 “L” primer, foam and sediment formation in the container during the storage is excluded. The primer films are resistant to the temperature variation from minus 45°C to plus 60°C.
Surface preparation: the surface to be painted shall be dry, cleaned from rust, scale and dirt, and degreased. The degree of cleaning of the metal surface depends on the use of the article with the paint and varnish coating.
Coating application: prior to application, the GF-021 and GF-021 “L” primer shall be stirred thoroughly and diluted to the working viscosity of 22-24 a as measured by means of the VZ-246 viscosimeter (4 mm nozzle) with solvent, xylene, А 120/200 petroleum solvent or mixture of one of the above solvents with white spirit (S4 155/200 petroleum solvent) in proportion of 1:1; for the GF-021 “L” primer, the RS-2, R-649 and R-650 solvents may be used. The primer shall be applied in a single layer by air-stream spraying including that in the electrostatic field, dipping, flow coating or by means of a brush. In case of painting in electric field, the primer shall be diluted with RE-4V thinner. The thickness of one layer of the primer is 15-20 μm. Primer consumption for a single-layer coating: 60-100 g/m2. The air temperature at the place of painting of the article shall be at least 15°С at the relative air humidity of no more than 80%. The time of drying of a single-layer coating at the temperature of (20±2)°C is 24 hours.
Safety precautions: when performing the painting works as well as after finishing them, it is necessary to ventilate the room thoroughly. Use rubber gloves to protect your hands. Keep away from fire!
Warranty period: 6 months from the date of manufacture for the GF-021 primer and 12 months for the GF-021 “L” one.
