Sphere of application: The KhV-0278 enamel primer is intended for painting the steel and cast-iron structures with residues of scale and tightly stuck rust (the thickness of the layer of corrosion products is up to 70 μm) exposed to attack of the industrial atmosphere containing aggressive gases and vapors as well as salts and other chemical reagents with the temperature of not above 60°С. The KhV-0278 enamel primer is used for painting the metal surfaces, which are hard to clean due to a number of causes, complex-shaped articles, such as grates, fences and garages.
The KhV-0278 enamel primer is used in repair painting of cars for priming rusty surfaces of bottoms, fenders and other parts that need no decorative finishing.
Recommended coating system: the KhV-0278 primer enamel shall be applied to the surface when being used as an independent coating in 3 layers or in complex coating in 2 layers and overcovered with enamels or varnishes of the KhS, KhV, EP, NTs, ML or PF type.
Coating service life: under conditions of temperate and cold climate, the coating on the surface covered with scale and tightly stuck rust to 100% consisting of three layers of the KhV-0278 enamel primers retains its protective properties for 4 years and decorative properties for 2 years.
Application method: Should the enamel primer be applied by means of a brush or roller, or by the airless spraying and dipping method, no dilution of the KhV-0278 enamel primer is required. When being applied by the air-stream spraying method, the enamel primer shall be diluted with the R-4 or R-4A solvent to the viscosity convenient for working.
Time of drying: to degree 3 at t=(20 + 2)°C: no more than one hour.
Color: blue, green, yellow, red, white, gray, light-gray, blue, henna and black.
Guaranteed shelf life: 12 months from the date of manufacture.
