Sodium tetraborate, 10-hydrate, Na2B4O7*10H2O (sodium tetraborate decahydrate, decahydrate, borax) is a source of boric oxide and widely used in various sectors of national economy.

• For production of specialized glass, fiber glass and glass fiber cloth. Borax (sodium tetraborate) contributes to blend malting, diminishes melt viscosity, prevents from devitrification, which leads to increased end product durability, mechanic, chemical and thermal exposure resistance. Borax application contributes to fiber glass hardening, chemical stability, improved thermal and sound-proof properties.
• When producing enamels and glazes, borax (sodium tetraborate) is used as a source of boric oxide. In glazes and enamels, it is an inorganic binder.
• Metallurgy. Borax is used as a source of boric oxide – antioxidant.
• Gold mining. During processing gold ore, anhydrous borax is primarily used. Effect of anhydrous borax: increased gold yield, improved quality of ingots.
• Borax (sodium tetraborate) is actively used when producing cooling liquid, lubricants and brake fluids, as it forms a complex compound on metal surfaces acting as a protection barrier from corrosion.
• Sodium tetraborate (Borax) is used in construction as a metal construction corrosion inhibitor. When producing green fiber, adhesives, chipboards, as antipyren antiseptic.
• Production of washing, cleaning agents, bleachers.

Out of hypophosphites, sodium hypophosphite is of greatest practical importance, for it is:

• reducer when applying Ni, Co, Sn coatings onto metals and plastics,
• antioxidant (prevents alkyd resin discoloration during their production),
• PVC and polyurethane stabilizer,
• reagent for As(III) and Sb(III) photometric analysis, etc.

Sodium fluoride is used as follows:

• in metallurgy when recovering aluminium, beryllium and certain other metals; in aluminium production,
• in laboratory practice,
• for wood preservation; for pest control,
• for production of enamels and fluxes;
• for water fluoration,
• for glass melting,
• for production of a number of organic compounds containing fluorine, etc.

Sodium chloride is white crystals. Sodium chloride forms crystals with cubic symmetry. It is sparingly soluble in water, solubility little depends on temperature: solubility coefficient of NaCl (per gram per 100 g of water) is 35.9 at 20°С and 38.1 at 80°С. Solubility of sodium chloride decreases significantly in the presence of hydrogen chloride, sodium hydroxide, salts – metal chlorides. It is soluble in liquid ammonia, enters into exchange reactions.

Nickel sulphate (II) 7-hydrate is one of nickel salts. Due to unique properties, it is often used as follows:

• in electrical engineering industry;
• in perfumery industry;
• in chemical industry as well as in galvanics.

Tin chloride is used as follows:

• as a catalyst of epoxide polymerization,
• as a reducer in organic synthesis,
• as a mordant when dyeing fabrics,
• for treating glass and plastic surfaces prior to metal coating for adhesion improvement,
• as flux component during welding,
• for production of Sn, as a reagent for determination of Сl2, I, Hg2+, Fe3+, etc.,
• for petroleum oil discoloration, etc

Stannic sulphate is used in galvanics, for coating details with tin, in laboratory practice, etc.

Nickel chloride, 6-hydrate NiCl2 • 6H2O (Nickel chloride, 6-hydrate (II)) is used as follows:

• as a component of electrolytes for Ni refining and for nickel coating;
• for production of Ni powder;
• as a catalyst for organic compound chlorination, etc. Anhydrous NiCl2 is used as a component of thermosensitive paints.
