Synonyms: manganous sulphate, manganic sulfate
Chemical formula: MnSO4-H2O
International name: MANGANESE SULFATE monohydrate
CAS No.: 10034-96-5 (monohydrate)
Grade: import, pure
Appearance: white to pink crystals
Manganic sulphate (manganic sulfate) — is colorless (to light pink) crystals, disintegrate at a temperature 850°С. Manganic sulphate forms crystalline hydrates with I, 4, 5 and 7 water molecules; monohydrate MnSO4.H2O is formed under heating other hydrates of manganic sulphate ~ 200°С, precipitates from water solutions at 150-160°С.
Production
Manganic sulphate is produced by dissolving МnО or MnCO3 in H2SO4.
Application of Manganic Sulphate
Manganic sulphate (manganic sulfate) is used as follows:
- as a component of dyers in textile industry,
- as a component in production of lead and manganic siccatives,
- as a component for preparing premixes used for animal feeding,
- in organic synthesis, as a catalyst, including when producing synthetic fatty acids,
- for production of other Mn salts,
- as electrolyte when producing MnO2 and Mn,
- as a microfertilizer, etc.
